Artwork Inspiration
Wisteria (1917–20) is one of only seven works (including one diptych) that Monet created to hang above a frieze above his famous cycle of large water lily paintings, which he offered to the French nation the day after the Armistice in 1918 as a memorial to the war. Claude Monet, Wisteria (1917-20).
The design @galerie_de_claire split Monet's Wisteria painting into two parts because it was simply too large for an average household poster frame. This way more can appreciate Monet's beautiful use of violet. Monet's violet provided a distinctive new color for modern art. He began to believe that purple was able to exploit the dimensionality of the shadow better than black, as he said: "I finally discovered the true color of the atmosphere. It is violet".
